NEW YORK CITY — The first machine I ever acquired for personal use was the compact Rollei35 — on loan from a friend, Michael Kiaer, my first true musical collaborator. Although my childhood was spent wielding all sorts of cameras and I kept a video camera rolling throughout my life, this moment was pivotal.

Through the lens of that camera, the process of my photographic memory began — a practice of translating moments into frames, frames into a framework of my metaphysical writing, laying the foundation for the MAP OF THE UNIVERSE.
